WILLIAM JOSEPH HAAKE

December 19, 1934 — May 7, 2006

William Joseph Haake, 71, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, May 7, 2006, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 19, 1934 in Jefferson City, the son of Lawrence Martin and Mary Wilhelmina Spieker Haake. He was married on June 30, 1956 in Chamois, MO to Betty Sue Hoffman who survives at the home. Mr. Haake was a 1952 graduate of St. Peter High School and served with the United States Army Reserves from 1957 to 1963. He retired on Feb. 9, 1996 as Purchasing and Materials Manager with Central Electric Power Cooperative where he had been employed for forty-one years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where he was a volunteer with the school and was a basketball coach. He was an original incorporator of Cole County Public Water District No. 2 where he served as vice-president of the Board of Directors. He was an original incorporator of Central Electric Credit Union and member of the Board of Directors. He served as a Little League coach with Jefferson City Parks and Recreation. He was a member of A.A.R.P. and the National Association of Purchasing Managers. Mr. Haake enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, and reading. Other survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Susan M. and Ronald Rogers, Springfield, MO; and Patricia A. and Kent Arnett, Overland Park, KS; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Rhonda Haake, Jefferson City; and Thomas J. Haake, St. Louis; six grandchildren, Katherine Rogers, Tyler Haake, Alexander Arnett, Megan Rogers, Anna Arnett, and Ashlyn Arnett; three step-grandchildren, Rachel, Jeremy, and Ryan Binkley; one step-great-grandson, Tayus Jones; and one brother and two sisters-in-law, Robert G. and Mary Haake and Catherine Haake, all of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lawrence A. Haake and James B. Haake. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 9th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Vogelweid Special Learning Center, 216 Broadway, Jefferson City, MO 65101; St. Peter Catholic School, 216 Broadway, Jefferson City, MO 65101; American Heart Association, POB 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-1653; or American Diabetes Association, POB 1013, Columbia, MO 65205.
