WAYNE JOSEPH BUCHHEIM

Wayne Joseph Buchheim, 72, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at his residence. He was born on August 10, 1935, in Highland, Ill., the son of Irwin Joseph and Fern Mary Gall Buchheim. His mother still survives in Highland, Ill. He was a 1953 graduate of Routt College High School. He graduated from Illinois College in 1957 and from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1964. He was married on August 10, 1963, in Columbia, Mo., to Janice Kerschen who survives at the home. Wayne served with the United States Army on active duty from 1958-1960 and from 1960-1964 on active reserve. Mr. Buchheim worked as a senior research specialist with Advanced Elastomer Systems in Akron, Ohio, from 1986-2001. Before 1986, he was employed with Monsanto in St. Louis, Mo., GAF Corp. in Chattanooga, Tenn., and Morton Chemical in Woodstock, Ill. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph and the American Chemical Society, and holds four patents in chemistry. Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Joe Alonzo, Jefferson City; one son, Evan Buchheim, Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Andrew Buchheim; Matthew Buchheim; Adam Alonzo; and one brother, Dwight Buchheim, Margate, Fl. He was preceded in death by his father. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Joseph L. Shetler officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to SSM Hospice, 520 Ellis Blvd., Jefferson City, MO 65101.
