Dr. Warren James Ward, Jr., 78, Jefferson City, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at Autumn Meadows in Linn. He was born on July 25, 1928 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Dr. Warren J., Sr., and Dorothy Bell Ward. He was married on May 11, 1974 in Jefferson City to Margie Glenda Holmes who survives at the home. A 1945 graduate of Ponca City High School, Ponca City, OK, he received a Bachelor of Science degree followed by the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University in 1957. He was a Veterinarian with the USDA Veterinary Services serving in various field and management positions in Indiana, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Bahamas, and Hawaii. He was Area Veterinarian in charge of Hawaii when he retired in 1991 and returned to Jefferson City. He served in the Army from 1945 to 1948 and was a member of the National Association of Federal Veterinarians and Southeast Missouri Veterinary Association. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Other survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, James M. Ward, Pevely, MO; James A. and Valida Ward, Jefferson City; and Jeffrey W. and Christy Ward, Maumelle, AR; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Virginia E. and Bill Manning, Farmington, MO; and Janice M. & Danny Pogue, St. Louis, MO; four step-sons and their wives, Larry and Sharon Seabaugh, Holts Summit; Garry and Joyce Seabaugh, Jefferson City; Jerry and Debbie Seabaugh, Hartford, CT; and Mike Seabaugh, Houston, TX; four step-daughters and their husbands, Glenda Seabaugh, Jefferson City; Linda Vanvactor, Jefferson City; Connie and Dennis Lockwood, Jefferson City; and Kaye and Delbert Stockman, Jefferson City; thirty-two grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Janette Rains, Grove Springs, MO; and Barbara Jean and her husband, Joe, Seabaugh, Cape Girardeau, MO. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Ward Pugh; and a granddaughter, Natalie Seabaugh. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville, with the Rev. Gregory C. Meystrik and the Rev. Brenden Doyle officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Cardinal Glennon Childrens Hospital, 1465 S. Grand Ave., St. Louis, MO 63104-1095.
