Victor Joseph Kampeter

Victor Joseph Kampeter, 93, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. He was born March 12, 1922, in Argyle, Missouri the son of the late Herman Joseph and Rose Therese (Wieberg) Kampeter. Vic served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was united in marriage on January 27, 1951, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City to Lucille Cecilia Neutzler who survives. Vic worked for 19 years with International Shoe Company and with St. Mary's Hospital in the Radiology Department for 19 years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, and St. Mary's Auxiliary. He was a life member of the American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1003. Vic enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to the lake, painting homes, repairing lawn mowers, gardening, being in the outdoors, and once a month being with his brothers and sister playing cards. He was an avid volunteer at St. Peter Catholic Church and with the American Legion. In addition to his wife, Lucille, he is survived by two daughters: Cheryl (Vic) Buechter, Jefferson City; Sharon (Leroy) Wilde, Wardsville; three grandchildren, Kristan (Jamie) Morris, Craig (Heather) Buechter, Curt (Heather) Buechter; four great-grandchildren, Daniel Morris, Nick Morris, Owen Morris, Benjamin Buechter; and six siblings, Roman (Josephine "Josie") Kampeter, Taos; Vinston "Vince" Kampeter, Farber; Emil (Gladys) Kampeter, Jefferson City; August "Gus" Kampeter (Johnna Sue Tate), Jefferson City; Veronica "Fronie" Corl, Jefferson City; and Lorene (Bazel) Pauley, Lake Ozark. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lucy Ann Drinkard and Mary Ann Miller. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 10th, 2015, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. John J. Schmitz officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Peter Parish Foundation, 216 Broadway Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101 or to the American Legion, 1423 Tanner Bridge Road, Jefferson City, MO 65101 Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
