Veronica Katherine Evers

Veronica Katherine Evers, 95, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center. She was born March 20, 1920, in Mary's Home, the daughter of the late George and Agnes (Mormann) Kempker. She was united in marriage on June 23, 1941, in Mary's Home to John Elmer Evers, who preceded her in death on March 17, 2008. Veronica worked for 15 years with the Department of Revenue as a secretary. She also was a homemaker the majority of her life raising and caring for her family. She was a charter member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph where she was active in the church choir, was a member of the Ladies Sodality, member of the Altar and Rosary Committee, was a Chairperson of the Christmas Bazaar, and was a long-time participant in the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. In her earlier years, Veronica was an organist at Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church in Mary's Home. Veronica was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Lady Bugs, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2693, and the National Federation of the Blind where she served on the Advisory Council. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. She enjoyed playing cards with two card clubs, including the Fatima Circle Card Club. Her hobbies included traveling and dancing with her husband, fishing, cooking, and praying the Rosary. Veronica was a very talented seamstress making many outfits through the years including cheerleading uniforms for Helias, priests vestments, habits for religious sisters, and dresses for weddings. Survivors include: three daughters and three sons-in-law, Vera Sue Evers and John Wyker, Gladstone, MO; Mary Jane and Daniel Lord Muessig, Jefferson City; Linda Kay and Donald Edmund Stuckenschneider, Jefferson City; one son, Elmer Lee "Sonny" Evers, Eldon; and his friend, Marilyn Sultzman, Jefferson City; 10 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two grandsons, Richard Luebbering and Randall Luebbering; 1 infant sister, 3 sisters, Frances Sanning, Helen Tellman, and Josephine Stevens; and four brothers, John Kempker, Raymond Kempker, Anton Kempker (her twin), and Edward Kempker. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2015, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Christopher M. Aubuchon officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the BOOST Fund in care of Capital Region Medical Foundation, P.O.
