VITALIA VERONICA GARTNER

June 10, 1912 — April 7, 2005

Vitalia Veronica Gartner, 92, of Lohman, died Thursday, April 7, 2005, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on June 10, 1912 in St. Louis County, MO, the daughter of Frank and Veronica Bartinikas. She was married on Sept. 2, 1933 in St. Louis, MO to Joseph Ignatius Gartner who died on March 17, 1994. She received an academic scholarship to attend and graduated from Webster Groves High School, St. Louis, MO in 1929. She began her career working at Schillers Photo Supply in St. Louis followed by a 12 year secretarial career at McDonnell Douglas retiring in 1973. She then worked as an investigator for the Cole County Collector retiring again in 1998. In her final years, she worked as a bookkeeper for Tots Are Us Child Development Center. She was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church; Ladies Sodality; Fifty Plus Club, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and a Charter member of the Newport Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 6137 of St. Louis. Survivors include three sons and their wives, Joseph F. and Lin Gartner, Osage Beach; Robert E. and Sandra Gartner, Lohman; and William A. and Sharon Gartner, Columbia; one daughter, Patricia A. Weber, Russellville; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jerry Bartinikas, St. Louis. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Shirley Gartner; three brothers, Frank Bartinikas, August Barton, and Victor Barton; and one sister, Laura Barnes. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 noon, Monday, April 11, 2005, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday, April 10th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Martin Catholic Education Foundation, 7206 St. Martins Ave. Jefferson City, MO 65109.
