Thomas John Schnieders

Thomas John "To-Jo" Schnieders, 81, of Wardsville, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.

He was born August 17, 1940, in Wardsville, Missouri, the son of Arthur Herman and Emma Catherine (VanLoo) Schnieders.

He was a 1958 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia, Missouri.

He was united in marriage by Rev. Bernard Groner on July 6, 1963, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg, Missouri, to Joan Gertrude Struemph who survives at the home.

Tom proudly owned and operated To-Jo Electric since 1977. He previously worked for Stokes Electric in Jefferson City for sixteen years.

He was a life-long member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church; Perpetual Adoration; the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; and the Wardsville Lions Club.

He enjoyed all sports especially when his grandchildren were playing, gardening, driving his route through Wardsville, playing solitaire, traveling, and Lions activities. Tom was well known in the community for making delicious homemade sausage for his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Joan of fifty-eight years; five children, Rhonda (Michael) Haes, Clark; Michael Schnieders, Meta; Bonnie Schnieders, Wardsville; Michelle Kelly, Jefferson City; and Roxanne (Samuel) Braun, Osage Bend; a son-in-law, Kevin Grawe; twelve grandchildren, Jonathon (Amanda) Haes, Leah Haes, Ryan (Alyssa) Haes, Ashley Hughes, Elizabeth Hughes, Lauren Schnieders, Madison Moore, Quinn Kelly, Dylan Grawe, Tristan Grawe, Isabel Grawe, and Bailey Braun; five great-grandchildren, Kenneth, Gabriel, Mary, Michael, and Brian; and two sisters, Margie Rackers, Wardsville; and Rose (Charles) Shelton, Wardsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, John Paul Schnieders; daughter, Cathy Schnieders-Grawe; sister, Anna Mae (Edwin) Lage; two brothers, Bernard (Rosemary) Schnieders, and Joe (Susie) Schnieders; and two brothers-in-law, Eugene Schubert and Harold Rackers.

Visitation will be 2:30-5 p.m., Sunday November 21, 2021, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville with a prayer service at 2 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with the Rev. I.C. Medina officiating.

Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
