The Rev. Eugene Jospeh Robl

June 1, 1924 — March 10, 2002

He was born in Ellinwood, Kansas, the son of Michael and Anna Schlochtermeier Robl. He is survived by a sister, Magdalen Robl, Les Vegas, Nevada. He served as Assistant Pastor at Holy Savior Catholic Church, Wichita, from 1950 to 1951; St. John Catholic Church, El Dorado, Kansas from 1951 to 1954; and All Saints Catholic Church, Wichita, from 1954 to 1959. He received his first pastorate at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Wichita from 1959 to 1963. He served as pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cunningham, Kansas, from 1963 to 1975, and the St. Rose Catholic Church, Columbus, from 1975 to 1976. He served as the Kansas State Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus from 1954 to 1956. Fr. Robl served as Associate Pastor at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Columbia, Missouri, from 1977 to 1979. He served twice as chaplain at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Administration Medical Center in Columbia. He was appointed administrator and then pastor of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Centralia from 1979 to 1984. During this time he was incardinated into the Diocese of Jefferson City in August of 1981. He served as pastor of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Brunswick, and St. Raphael Catholic Church, Indian Grove, from 1984 to 1991. He retired on November 1, 1997 with residence in Columbia and assisted at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where he celebrated his Golden Anniversary in 2000. He served as Dean of the Brookfield Deanery from 1982 to 1986 and was a member of the Diocesan Pastoral Council from 1985 to 1986. He was a member of the Lions, Kiwanis, and Optimist Clubs; Boy Scouts of America; St. Vincent de Paul Society; and the American Red Cross. Memorials are suggested to the Infirm Priests' Fund of the Jefferson City Diocese, P.O. Box 417, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0417. Fr. Robl attended Saints Peter & Paul Elementary School in Ellinwood, Kansas; St. Mary Cathedral High School, Wichita, Kansas; and the Holy Cross Abbey School and Junior College in Canon City, Colorado. He studied at St. Louis Preparatory Seminary and Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis. He was ordained to the Priesthood on June 1, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood, Kansas for the Diocese of Wichita.
