Sylvia Caroline Wolters, 101, of The Timbers in Holts Summit, MO, died April 27, 2018, surrounded by her family. Sylvia was born October 4, 1916, in Bonnots Mill, MO, on the family farm. She was the youngest daughter of Fred and Barbara (Kramer) Bret. Sylvia graduated from Bonnots Mill High School in 1935. She married Norbert Leo Wolters on November 9, 1940. After 58 years of marriage, Norbert preceded her in death on August 24, 1998. Together Sylvia and Norbert owned and operated Pepsi Cola Distributors for 40 years although her proudest accomplishment was as a dedicated mom to their eight children. Sylvia also worked at J.C. During her lifetime, Sylvia was a member of a bowling league, enjoyed playing cards, made ceramics and was a talented quilter, having made over 100 quilts for her family and various charities. She worked on and completed hundreds of jigsaw puzzles, many over 1000 pieces. Sylvia loved playing bingo, going to the casino, was an avid NASCAR fan, and was especially fond of Carl Edwards. A recent highlight in her life was a surprise personal visit from Carl Edwards at her home, an event she spoke about until her death. She enjoyed her last few years making many good friends and memories at The Timbers Assisted Living Community. More than anything Sylvia enjoyed being the Matriarch of her large, extended family. She leaves a legacy of 4 generations who spent time with her playing cards, baking cookies, enjoying sleep overs and learning untold life lessons. Sylvia is survived by eight children: Jerilyn Lavinder, Janet (Larry) Rademan, Joyce Osborn, June (Oscar) Haid, Jim Wolters, Jeanine (Howard) Kunz, Joan (Delbert) Branson, Jody (John) Kimball; sixteen grandchildren: Tammy Anson, Ed Gillmore, Tracy Rademan, Trisha Rademan, Tiffany Inghram, Scott Osborn, Chris Haid, Clinton Haid, Barret Wolters, Layne Wolters, Jared Kunz, Justin Kunz, Beth Oetting, Cam Branson, Guthrie Kimball, and Tyler Kimball; sixteen great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. Along with her husband, those preceding her in death were her parents; five sisters: Mary Blue, Florence Schroeder, Irmina Starke, Liguori Woods-Jansen, an infant sister, Wilma; and son-in-law, Ron Lavinder. Visitation will be held at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Tuesday morning May 1, 2018, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev.
