Stanley Henry Adrian

Stanley Adrian, 81, of Wardsville, MO, died Saturday, October 4, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born in Wardsville to Joseph Adrian and Margaret Sommers Adrian. He was married on May 26, 1951 in Wardsville to Margaret Jane Winkelmann who survives at the home. Other survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Debbie Adrian, Jefferson City; his daughter, Linda B. Adrian, Jefferson City; four grandchildren, Duane Tuthill, Terra Adrian, Jenna Adrian, and Carlie Adrian; and his brother and sister, Adolph Adrian and Marie Parris, both of Jefferson City. Mr. Adrian also enjoyed Redman Chewing Tabacco, playing Rummy, and cruising up and down McCarty Street in his pick-up truck. A 1940 graduate of St. Peter High School, Mr. Adrian was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Timberwolf Division. He was employed in construction work during building at Ft. Leonard Wood and Jefferson Barracks prior to his military service. He later was employed with the Missouri Division of Employment Security; Von Hoffman Press; and was a partner and operating engineer with Adrian Materials Company until his retirement. Mr. Adrian was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church; Wardsville Lions Club; Osage Bend-Wardsville Knights of Columbus; Cursillo Movement; Roy Sone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1003; and a fifty-year member of Operating Engineers Local 513. He served on the Board of Surpervisors for the Cole Junction Levy District; was active in all sports and a player and manager with the Jefferson City Redbirds baseball team; helped build the Wardsville Lions baseball field; and was instrumental in establishing the Babe Ruth baseball program and field. Mr. Adrian wanted all children to have the opportunity to play baseball or softball if they wanted to, because he loved the game and spent so many years playing.
