SYLVESTER WILLIAM BEMBOOM

Sylvester William Bemboom, 85, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Administration Hospital in Columbia. He was born on April 29, 1922, in Jefferson City, the son of August Joseph and Elizabeth Mary Vieth Bemboom. He was married on Dec. 23, 1976, in Columbia to Doris Marie Shively who died on Oct. 28, 1999. A farmer in earlier years, Mr. Bemboom was employed with Thoenen Home Builders, and later as a carpenter with the Jefferson City Park Board until retiring in 1999. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he served as a combat infantryman in the Philippines. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. Survivors include two nieces and their husbands, Mary and Leo Casto, Anderson, Ind.; and Loretta and Franz Penner, Lamar, Mo.; two nephews, Frances and Patricia Bemboom, Slater, Mo.; and Charles Bemboom, Independence, Mo.; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and two great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two brothers, Louis Bemboom and John Bemboom. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church, 116 Broadway, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
