STANLEY LOUIS RACKERS

November 13, 1930 — May 23, 2012

Stanley Louis Rackers, 81, of Jefferson City, was called home to the Lord Wednesday, May 23, 2012.
He was born on November 13, 1930, in Wardsville, the son of the late Otto Herman and Henrietta Kundagunda Knorr Rackers.
He was united in marriage on June 6, 1953, in Taos, to Elizabeth Betty Ann Pleus who was the daughter of Joe and Josephine Pleus of Taos. Betty preceded him in death on July 3, 2008.
Stanley served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1954 as a heavy equipment operator at Camp Pendleton, California.
After his USMC service, Stanley and Betty moved to Wichita, Kansasa, and he built new homes there until they returned to central Missouri in 1957. He spent the rest of his career as a carpenter/millwright for various construction companies. Notable jobs included working as Superintendent for an extensive remodeling of the Missouri State Capitol and his last major project was millwright work for the construction of the Callaway Nuclear Power Plant.
Stanley continued to live in and enjoy the view from the home he built in 1957 overlooking the Moreau River. He and Betty raised their seven children there and Stanley enjoyed working and clearing land, and raising cattle and crops. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, shooting, and fishing.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He was a lifelong member of Carpenters Union Local 945, and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include: seven children, Dennis (Rhonda) Rackers, Houston, Tx; Kenny Rackers, Colorado Springs, Co; Roger (Lori) Rackers, Bonnots Mill, Mo.; Steve Rackers, Creve Coeur, Mo.; Kathy (Bob) Wibberg, Taos; Susie (Steve) Komaromi, Taos; Vic (Eileen) and their children Jill, Jordan, and Jared Rackers, Jefferson City; nineteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Harvey (Mary Dee) Rackers, Brazito; Marion Rackers, Jefferson City; and Doris (Charles Smitty) Smith, Jefferson City.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Rank; and a brother, Vernon Rackers.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Gregory L. Higley, officiating.
Entombment with military honors will be in the Resurrection Mausoleum.
Visitation will be 4:30-8 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Masses in honor of Stanley, St. Raymond Society Pregnancy Help Center; or the Vitae Foundation.
