Ruth Elizabeth Ovaitt

Ruth Elizabeth Ovaitt, 57, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born on June 9, 1957, in Jefferson City, the daughter of Francis Edward and Mildred Clara (Vogel) Ovaitt. Ruth attended Goshorn Center and graduated from Vogelweid Learning Center. Ruth also participated in the College for Life program for special needs adults. Ruth was employed with Capitol Projects Inc. from 1976-1984. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, past member of St. Peter Catholic Church, and a member of the Legion of Mary Auxiliary. Ruth volunteered with the Jefferson City Diocese Chancery helping prepare mailings and volunteered with the local Girl Scout Council helping with mailings. Ruth enjoyed bowling with her friends, working jigsaw puzzles, going to the library, and loved playing cards. Survivors include: her mother, Mildred Ovaitt, of Jefferson City; one sister, Sharon Ovaitt, Jefferson City; six brothers, Frank (Jackie) Ovaitt, McLean, VA; Larry Ovaitt, Midvale, UT; Paul (Denise) Ovaitt, Augusta, MO; Douglas Ovaitt, Fairfield, IA; Mark Ovaitt, Chesterfield, MO; Dan (Vonda) Ovaitt, Weston, MO; one aunt, Velma Vogel Leary, Jefferson City; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2014, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Christopher Aubuchon officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:30-4 p.m. Sunday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 2 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Vogelweid Learning Center, 314 West High Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101; or to the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 2305 West Main Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
