Robert Michael Malone

Dr. Robert Michael Malone, 88, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, January 31, 2015, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Missouri. He was born November 14, 1926, in Phelps county near Newburg, Missouri the son of the late Michael Robert and Anna Irene (Wilson) Malone. He was united in marriage on December 2, 1950, in Paragould, Arkansas to Sarah Argentine Barr who survives. Dr. Malone graduated high school from the United States Armed Forces Institute in Florida in 1948. He holds college degrees from the University of New York, Baptist Christian College, Lincoln University, and the University of North Carolina. Dr. Malone served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II, Vietnam Era, and the Korean Conflict. He was wounded in World War II. He received 28 decorations and awards including the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He retired from the Air Force in 1966 with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Dr. Malone worked as a manufacturing Engineer for Emerson Electric, was an Academic teacher, Adjunct Professor, Vocational Counselor, and nursing home administrator. He retired January of 1990 from the state of Missouri. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church and served as an ordained deacon, member of the American Legion, life member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars, charter member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, former member of the Exchange Club in Paragould, Ark.; member of the Masonic Lodge in Fulton, and was a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason in Columbia. Dr. Malone is survived by his wife of 64 years Sarah Argentine Malone, Jefferson City; three daughters, Beverly (Keith) Benton, Kingman, Ariz.; Pamela Malone, Raytown, Mo; Terri Jo Elliott, Holts Summit; two sons, Robert (Michelle) Malone, Jefferson City; Jim (Joyce) Malone, Neosho, Mo; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Molly Smith, St. Louis; Linda Roberson, Dixon, Mo; Charlotte Morgan, Waynesville, Mo; and James (Ruth Ann) Malone, Dixon, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Elizabeth Nikrik; three sisters, Minnie Davis, Alta Parker, Reba Wells; and two brothers, Lloyd Malone and Pat Malone. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Concord Baptist Church with Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
