Robert George Haake

Robert George "Bob" Haake, 87, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Adams Street Place. He was born on March 3, 1927, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Lawrence M. and Mary W. (Spieker) Haake. Bob was a 1944 graduate of St. Peter High School and attended International Correspondence School studying intermediate accounting. After high school, Bob served in the United States Army from April of 1945 to October of 1946. He was united in marriage on October 25, 1952, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City to Mary Dolores Nienhueser who survives at the home. Bob worked for the Missouri Department of Natural Resourses as the Director of Division of Administrative Services. He was a committee member under Governor Bond that helped organize the Department of Natural Resources in 1974. Bob also worked for the Missouri State Parks for 37 years during which time he had served as Assistant Director; Missouri Department of Corrections as an Account Clerk; and for the Department of the Army in the Accounting Office. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Jefferson City Park Board where he served as President, and Assistant Treasurer of St. Peter Home and School Association. Bob loved to travel to national parks and other countries. In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by one son, Carl (Terri) Haake, Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Cameron Haake, Bryce Haake, Zachary Haake, Aaron Kahn, Jessica Kahn (Derrick) Shaw; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Bowling and Tristan Kahn; and one son-in-law, Robert Kahn, Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters and one son-in-law, Paula Haake Kahn in 2006 and M. Lynne Haake Peirick and Marvin Peirick in 2009; and three brothers, William Haake, James Haake, and Lawrence Haake. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Colin P. Franklin officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Memorials are suggested to SSM Hospice, 1214 W.
