Robert F. Shafer

Robert F. Shafer, 66, of Florence, Missouri died Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at his home. Robert was born August 5, 1948, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the son of Jim & Rose Shafer who are both deceased. He was a loving husband to Betty Jo Halas-Shafer who survives him at home in Florence, MO. Robert attended Russellville High School. Robert served in the United States Navy from 1968-1971. He worked for Cole County Ambulance and Still Hospital for 27 years, retired in 1999 due to health reasons. Robert was a loving father of Elizabeth Fields, and his granddaughter Lilleah Fields of Grandview, MO. He was a caring stepfather to Jeff (Wendy) Baker of Raleigh, NC. As well as Carolyn Reyes and granddaughter Smila Reyes of Madison, WI. Robert was a treasured brother to Bette (Larry) Brondel and Mary Shafer. He leaves his beloved nieces and nephews; Brian Brondel, Nathan Brondel, Christina Old, Joshua Old, and Emilea Old who reside in Jefferson City, MO. "I have left many dear friends. Don't cry for me, instead enjoy a beer in my honor." Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with military honors at 5:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 .m., Saturday, November 1, 2014, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bahner, Missouri.
