Robert "Bob" Edward Maher, 85, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He was born on October 16, 1928, in Dunlap, Iowa, the son of the late Robert Mark and Marie Cecilia (Mullen) Maher. Bob served with the United States Navy from 1946-1948. He was united in marriage on June 16, 1962, in Helena, Arkansas to Anne Webster Carter who still survives. Bob worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation as a legislative liaison, retiring in 1993, after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bob enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, and going to the Capital Region Healthplex. He also enjoyed the musical arts and especially loved being with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Anne, he is survived by three children, Cecilia Carson, Columbia; Mark (Linda) Maher, St. Louis; Anne Justine (Matt) Morris, Columbia; and four grandchildren, Charlie Carson, Kelly Carson, Madeleine Morris, and Justine Morris. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Dylan Schrader officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Cathedral of St. Joseph Foundation, P.O.
