Robert Edward Block, 79, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia. He was born April 11, 1923 in Jefferson City, the son of Victor Block and Mayme Caspari Block. He was married on November 27, 1947 in St. Martins to Stella Marie Herman who survives at the home. Other survivors include three sons, David J. Block, Jamestown; Wayne F. Block, Sussex, Wisconsin; and Gary H. Block, California, Missouri; six grandchildren; and three brothers, James Blcok and Richard Block, both of Jefferson City; and Victor Block, St. Elizabeth. Services were 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin Catholic Church. The Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiated. Burial with military honors waws in St. Martin Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials were suggested to St. Martin Catholic Church or to Masses. He was a 1942 graduate of St. Peter High School, and attended the University of Missouri. He was employed with Jefferson CLeaners, and later with Capital City Water Company where he retired in 1986 as superintendent after 34 years of employment. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church; the Parish Council; Holy Name Society; Apache Flats Lions Club; Scoutmaster of St. Martin Boy Scout Troop 12; St. Martin Baseball Team; Jefferson City Radio Control Club; and Academy of Model Aeronautics. He was a life member of the American Water Works Association, and was instrumental in establishing Cole County Water District No. 3
