Robert Harold Anderson, 92, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born October 9, 1925, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Quincy Earl and Edna Ruth (Brown) Anderson. He was a 1943 graduate of Normandy High School in St. Louis. Robert served his country with the United States Merchant Marines during World War II as a Marine Engineer from 1943-1947. He was united in marriage on July 6, 1946, in Ferguson, Missouri to LaVerne Lillian Meyer who preceded him in death on February 10, 2012. Robert worked for the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) State Council 72 for over 21 years. He served as President of the Missouri State Council and Vice President of the International AFSCME Midwest region. Born a city boy, Bob yearned to be a farmer. He learned to work hard with his hands and live by his wits. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed boating, bowling, rummage sales, and building projects. He also was very musically inclined. Survivors include five children, Chris (Lee) Anderson, Tebbetts, Mo.; Kathleen (Stephan) Johannesmeyer, Westphalia, Mo.; Karen Anderson, Jefferson City; Cynthia Anderson, Jefferson City; and Carol (Jeff) Sanders, Jefferson City; ten grandchildren, Merci McKinney, Heather Gieck, Ashlee Anderson, Robert W. Anderson, Holly Nunn, Brianna Anderson, Elyse Anderson, Cory Eickermen, Shelby Fisher, and Blake Fisher; nineteen great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Robert H. Anderson, Jr. who died while on active duty with the United States Marine Corps, and Curt Anderson. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. James Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
