Raymond John Sharisin

June 18, 1932 — October 8, 2015

Raymond John Sharisin, 83, of Westphalia, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on June 18, 1932, in Normandy, Missouri, the only child of the late John Fallon Sharisin and Marie Eva Fuchs Sharisin. He was married on June 23, 1956, in Normandy to Barbara Theresa Wilde who survives at the home. A 1950 graduate of DeAndres High School in St. Louis, Ray served as a Communications Specialist with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict . He retired in 1992 as a training officer and supervisor with the Missouri Department of Corrections where he had been employed for thirty-one years. Ray was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Westphalia. He and his wife traveled extensively by car through forty-nine states, Nova Scotia, and Alaska. An avid fisherman, Ray especially enjoyed his Friday night card playing group. He leaves behind eight children, Russell (Vonnie) Sharisin, Westphalia; Pamela (Joseph) Randazzo, Wentzville, Missouri; Tina Bax, Jefferson City; Susan (Greg) Schulte, Jefferson City; Jill (Don) Peters, Mary's Home, Missouri; Denise Sharisin, Lake Ozark, Missouri; Kim Sharisin, Jefferson City; and John (Amy) Sharisin, Bonnots Mill, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, with the Rev. Mark A. Smith officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Westphalia. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, October 12th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Westphalia with a prayer service at 3 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Mason Eye Clinic at the University of Missouri, 1 Hospital Drive, Columbia, MO 65201; or the American Heart Association, 915 Country Ridge Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
