Raymond Herman Rackers

Raymond Herman Rackers, 95, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Adams Street Place. He was born June 14, 1919, in Jefferson City, the son of the late William Albert and Elizabeth Margaret (Bellman) Rackers. Raymond served his country during World War II with the United States Army. He was united in marriage on November 23, 1946 in Jefferson City to Bernice Bee Luebbert who preceded him in death on July 21, 1993. Raymond worked as a core driller for the Missouri State Highway Department and also worked part-time for Crown Drug. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, and Knights of Columbus. Raymond was devoted to his church and religion. He also was instrumental in helping to establish the Samaritan Center. He volunteered his time while his sons were active members with the Boy Scouts. In his spare time, Raymond enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include: two sons, Bob (Lisa) Rackers, Jefferson City; Andy Rackers, St. Louis; and three grandchildren, Clint Rackers, Meghan Rackers, and Evan Branson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three sisters: Agnes Walther, Myrene Fulk, Georgia Rackers; and two brothers: Bill Rackers and Clifford Rackers. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Compassus, 600 Monroe Street, Suite 100, Jefferson City, Mo 65101.
