ROY EDWARD EPPLE

Roy Edward Epple, 77, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at his home. He was born on July 9, 1930, in Osage County, the son of Edward Antone and Velma Tilly Weissenbach Epple. He was married on Feb 14, 1953, in Morrison, MO, to Veneta Mae Nolte who preceded him in death. He was married on July 21, 1992, in Lake Ozark, MO, to Nancy Ann Daniel who survives at the home. He was a 1948 graduate of Hermann Creek High School, and attended Central Missouri State. At the age of 18, he taught school one year in a one room school, then returned to college. After completing his education, he taught school two years in Drake and one year in Gasconade. He worked for the United States Corps of Engineers on a riverboat the summer of 1953. He then worked three years for the Missouri Department of Transportation followed by six years at DeLongs, Inc. In 1960 he began a thirty-two year career with the Missouri Highway Department, retiring as senior structural engineer in 1990. After retiring, he was a bridge inspector for S & V Engineering and delivered computer systems for CSPI over much of the United States. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and also attended Community Christian Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and previously held the position of Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator; volunteered for the American Red Cross, Samaritan Center, and Habitat For Humanity. He loved his family, fishing, friends, and traveling. Other survivors include three sons and their wives, Gus and Vickie Epple, Bradford and Sharon Epple, and Tracy and Laurie Epple, all of Jefferson City; one step-son, Bryan Daniel, East Dubuque, IL; two step-daughters and their husbands, Kelly and Cole Humphreys, Holts Summit; and Marty and Jeff Powell, Jefferson City; six grandchildren, Jessica Epple-Farmer and her husband, Chris, Brooke Epple, Daniel Epple, Amber Epple, Spenser Epple, and Ross Epple; six step-grandchildren, Brandon Humphreys, Drew Humphreys, Ashley Humphreys, George Daniel, Matthew Daniel, and Connor Powell; two great-granddaughters, Alexis Epple and Kaitlin Epple; and two step-great-grandsons, Trey Daniel and Zack Daniel; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Gail and Goldie Epple, Jefferson City; and Dennis Epple, Morrison, MO; and one sister and brother-in-law, Berniece and Herb Boeckmann, Linn. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Kay Epple. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank A. Bussman officiating and Rev. David Avery assisting. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Habitat for Humanity, 1420 Creek Trail Dr., Jefferson City, MO 65109.
