Robert Lee Bob Wilbers, Sr., 80, of Jefferson City, died Monday, November 02, 2009, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
He was born October 10, 1929, in Jefferson City, Mo, the son of the late Joseph Bernard and Mary Mehmert Wilbers. Bob was a United States Army veteran. He was united in marriage on August 22, 1953, in St. Martins to Anna Marie Brondel who survives at the home. Mr. Wilbers owned and operated Jefferson Rug Cleaners for over fifty years. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Eagles Club, American Legion, and VFW. Bob had a passion for baseball, was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and was a past champion horseshoe player at local county fairs.
Other survivors include: five children, Robbie (Yvonne) Wilbers, Jefferson City; Jeanne (John) Mueller, Jefferson City; Ronnie Wilbers, Jefferson City; Tambra (Jeff) Bishop, High Ridge, Mo; Randy Wilbers, Jefferson City; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie (Jarrod) Pantaleo, Amber Mueller, Jamie Wilbers, Sam Wilbers, Jared Bishop, Kelsey Bishop, Blake Bishop, Brandi Wilbers, Justin Wilbers, Tyler Wilbers; and one great-grandchild, Tayla Nixon. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy, Herbert, and Walter Wilbers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, 1944-A East Sunshine, Springfield, Mo 65804.
