Robert Carl Bob Jeffries, 66, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at his residence.
He was born on Nov. 5, 1942, in Springfield, Mo., the son of William Carl and Elizabeth H. Roe Jeffries. He was married on Jan. 17, 1968, in Carson City, Nev., to Lois Diane Larson who survives at the home. Mr. Jeffries was a 1960 graduate of Jefferson City High School; attended Washington University in St. Louis; and received the Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from the University of Maryland. He was a twenty year U.S. Air Force veteran during the Vietnam Era and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. He retired in 2008 as Chief Engineer and Project Manager with Lockheed-Martin Corporation where he had been employed for twenty-four years. He was a consultant to the Environmental Protection Agency through his work with Lockheed-Martin.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Jefferson City; Ducks Unlimited; Audubon Society; and the Best Friends Animal Society. He was an avid enthusiast of American wildlife and enjoyed sports, hunting, fly-fishing, and reading.
Other survivors include his mother and step-father, Elizabeth and Joseph Jaeger, Jr., Jefferson City; one daughter, Tiffany A. Moak, Brandon, Miss.; one son, Robert C. Bobby Jeffries, Jr., Blacksburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Moak and Mason Lee Moak, both of Brandon, Miss.; one sister, Vicki (Jim) Goldammer, Jefferson City; one niece, Cass (Taylor) Condra, Gallatin, Tenn.; and one nephew, Matt (Kayo) Goldammer, Los Angeles, Calf. He was preceded in death by his father who died during the Invasion of Normandy during World War II.
A private memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, UT 84741-5000; Goldschmidt Cancer and Imaging Center, 1432 Southwest Blvd., Jefferson City, MO 65109; or St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
