RICHARD ROBERT ROCKERS

August 22, 1935 — November 18, 2007

Richard Robert Rockers, 72, St. Martins, died Sunday, November 18, 2007, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on August 22, 1935, in Jefferson City the son of Clarence Anthony and Rose Mary Ihler Rockers. He was united in marriage on Aug. 25, 1962 in Jefferson City to Mary Ann Kopp who survives at the home. Mr. Rockers was a graduate of St. Peters High School. He had been a brick layer for several contractors, most recently with Roy A. Scheperle Construction. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church where he volunteered his time and talents to the church and served as an usher, member of 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus 7194, and a member of Helias Athletic Boosters. Over the years Richard loved to spend time with his family especially watching his children and grandchildren at sporting events. He loved the nature and wildlife, tending to his large gardens, scouting events, riding his tractor, and helping others when needed. Other survivors include: five sons and their spouses, Timothy Rockers; Steve and Melissa Rockers; Mark Rockers, all of Jefferson City; Robert and Kristen Rockers, Centertown; and Larry Rockers, St. Martins; five daughters and their spouses, Beverly and Keith Rose, Wardsville; Brenda Sidebottom, Russellville; Joyce Rockers, Jefferson City; Donna and Louis Null, and Linda and Dale Kroll, both of St. Martins; fifteen grandchildren, Luke, Jenni, Levi, and Lane Michael Rose; Kaleb and Kody Sidebottom; Clayton, Laura, and Curtis Rockers; Tyler, Dustin and Danielle Kroll; Kyle and Joshua Smith; and an expecting baby Rockers; two brothers and their wives, Clarence and Juliann Rockers, Centertown; and Arthur and Judy Rockers, St. Martins; four sisters, Martha Giesing, Jefferson City; Laverne Tyree, St. Martins; Ruth Rockers, Jefferson City; and Marcella Crocker, Jefferson City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Brett Kroll; and a sister, Delores Hentges. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Martin Catholic Church, 7148 St. Martins Ave., Jefferson City, MO 65109 or to the St. Martin Catholic School Building Fund, 7206 St. Martins Ave., Jefferson City, MO 65109.
