RAYMOND BERNARD TOEBBEN

Raymond Bernard Toebben, 81, of Jefferson City, died Monday, August 16, 2010, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born on October 3, 1928, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Herman Joseph and Regina Josephine Taube Toebben. He was united in marriage on July 20, 1948, in Rich Fountain, to Margaret Elizabeth Bock who preceded him in death on January 3, 2009.
In his early years, Ray was a dairy farmer in Taos and Centertown. After farming, Ray began with Leonard Bauer Plumbing and Jim Meller Excavating. He then joined the Operating Engineers Local 513. After joining Local 513, Ray worked for Mike Anderson Underground Construction and retired in 1991 from Jefferson Asphalt Co. After retirement, Ray drove the school bus for St. Martins. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, Fourth Degree Knight with St. Jude's Assembly #1567 and a member of St. Martins Knights of Columbus # 7194, Fraternal Order Of Eagles, and National Rifle Association. Ray enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, and was an avid deer hunter. Ray was a jack-of-all-trades, taking any scrap objects and turning them into useful objects. He loved to be a handyman and helping anyone in need. Ray loved to spend time with his family.
Survivors include: seven children, Gerald (Diane) Toebben, Jefferson City; Janice (Ron) Eggen, Lohman; Leon (Cheryl) Toebben, Jefferson City; Ron (Vicky) Toebben, Centertown; Joyce (Danny) Patterson, St. Martins; Elaine (Gerald) Thomas, Centerville, Iowa; Dennis (Tonya) Toebben, Taos; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Hoelscher, Jefferson City; and one sister-in-law, Florence Toebben, Vienna. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Toebben, and a brother, Ralph Toebben.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 Noon Friday, August 20, 2010, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Martin Catholic School Building Fund, 7148 St. Martins Ave., Jefferson City, Mo 65109; or to the American Heart Association, 915 County Ridge Dr., Jefferson City, Mo 65109.
