Phyllis Marilyn Struemph

Phyllis Marilyn Struemph, 91, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center. She was born on March 31, 1927, in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of the late Cyril Bernard and Lydia Alice (Vernon) Fites. She attended Ritenour High School in St. Louis. She later received her GED in 1976. She was united in marriage on November 25, 1942, in Wellston, Missouri to Norbert Xavier Struemph who preceded her in death on November 3, 2017. Phyllis worked on a dairy farm in Freeburg from 1945-1948 and in Vienna from 1949-1958. She owned and operated a tavern in Vienna from 1958-1963. She also worked from 1963-1967 for Langenberg Hat Factory. Phyllis then worked for 24 years as a machine operator for Chesebrough Ponds retiring in 1991. She was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, VFW Auxiliary, and National Federation of Business and Professional Womens Club. Phyllis enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, listening to music, painting, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Survivors include, four sons, Norbert Paul (Virginia Vinia) Struemph, Jefferson City; William Bill (Debbie) Struemph, Bloomington, Indiana; Harold Struemph, Jefferson City; and George Mike (Jill) Struemph, Jefferson City; three daughters, Kathy (Charles) Eager, Blackburn; Patricia (Wayne) Andrews, Jefferson City; and Mary Francis (Larry) Roberts, Jefferson City; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; a half-sister, Carolyn Schulte, St. Peters, MO; one niece, Claire Davidson; four nephews, Ted Fites, Jeff Schulte, Jim Schulte, and John Schulte; and a sister-in-law, Anne Fites. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her step-mother, Ruth Fites; a son, Dean Michael Struemph; a granddaughter, Melinda Sue Struemph; a niece, Alison Fites; a nephew, Jerome Schulte, Jr.; and a brother, Cyril Vernon Fites. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Louis M. Nelen officiating. Burial will be in Visitation Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
