Paul Cooper Baslee, 72, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016, at the Riverview Nursing Center, Mokane, Missouri, after battling FTD Dementia and Parkinson's Disease. He was born October 9, 1943, in Boonville, Missouri, the son of the late Robert "Bob" and Ann Neubauer Baslee. He was united in marriage on March 29, 1969, in Boonville to Cheryl Linn Smith who survives at the home. Paul was a 1961 graduate of Boonville High School, and graduated from Capitol Business College, Jefferson City, in 1963. He received his Chartered Life Underwriters designation in 1984. He was a member of the Life Underwriters Association and the American Society of CLU and CHFC. He worked for the Missouri Department of Insurance as an Insurance Examiner until his retirement in November, 2005. Paul served in the U.S. Marine Corps from May 1, 1964, to April 30, 1968, when he was Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant. He received the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and Rifle Bade Expert M-14 Medal. Survivors include two children, Stephanie Upton, Jefferson City; and Paul Wade (Darla) Baslee, Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Dana Baslee, Jefferson City; Jessee Upton, U.S. Air Force, Tucson, Arizona; and Zane Upton, Jefferson City; three brothers, Wayne (Wilma) Baslee, Sedalia, Mo.; Clay (Alvera) Baslee, Boonville, Mo.; and Jack (Sharon) Baslee, Boonville, Mo.; one sister, Jean Wilkinson, Boonville, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Kay Barnes. A private service for the family will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Riverview Nursing Center, 10303 State Road C, Mokane, Missouri. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
