OTTO LEONARD

Otto Leonard "Dick" Fischer, 91, of Wardsville, died Thursday, October 8, 2009, at Jefferson City Manor Care.
He was born on July 1, 1918, in Wardsville, the son of the late Otto J. and Katherina Rackers Fischer. He was united in marriage on September 1, 1943, in Wardsville, to Lucille Mary Stegeman who preceded him in death on May 5, 2005. Otto farmed all his life on the family homestead near Wardsville. He also worked for Orscheln Trucking for 17 years. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, and in earlier years served on the church board. Ottos hobbies included hunting, fishing, taking care of his dogs, playing cards, and making wine. Otto greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include: six children, Mary (Robert) Rodeman, Wardsville; Richard (Marilee) Fischer, St. Thomas; Stephen (Linda) Fischer, Wardsville; Ann (Paul) Berendzen, Wardsville; Rosie (Dan) Steck, St. Martins; Gerard (Teresa) Fischer, Wardsville; sixteen grandchildren, Roger Rodeman, Jeni (Daryl) Bax, Sarah (Sam) Swoboda, John (Stephanie) Berendzen, Eric Berendzen, Jeff (Jodi) Berendzen, Kevin Steck, Jesse Steck, Amy (Lee) Crowell, Adam Fischer, Brian Fischer, Craig (Shonda) Fischer, Renae (Chris) Hilke, Jason Fischer, Matt Fischer, Jamie (Chris) Conklin; twelve great-grandchildren, Ryan Rodeman, Brittani Bungart, Brandon Bungart, Brooke Berendzen, Lucy Berendzen, Riley Berendzen, Kyle Fischer, Morgan Fischer, Madison Dulle, Laine Fischer, Cody Hilke, Courtney Hilke; and a half-sister. He was also preceded in death by a half-brother, Alvin Fischer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2009, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville, with the Rev. Gregory C. Meystrik officiating. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.
