OMER JOHN HAGNER

September 2, 1915 — February 5, 2009

Omer John Hagner, 93, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on Sept. 2, 1915, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Bernard and Christine Schmitz Hagner. He was married in May, 1945, in Jefferson City to Maude Elizabeth Swillum who preceded him on April 17, 2003. Mr. Hagner was employed for twenty years with the former Tweedie Shoe Factory and later with Harvey Hagner Construction Roofing until he was eighty-two years old. For many years he was also a self-employed roofer and painter. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a long-time member of St. Peter Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Kurt Wintermeyer, and Marilyn and Larry Hoffman, all of Jefferson City; one son, Gary Hagner, of Jefferson City; and five grandchildren, Sheila Bolin, Tipton, Mo.; Sherry Lynn Flory and Dana Kohl, both of Jefferson City; Chandra Custard, Holts Summit, Mo.; and Matthew Hagner, Pasco. Wash.; and eleven great-grandchildren; and his special care-giver, Richard Williams, Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by two infant children, and four brothers, Herman, Wilber, Harvey, and Alfred Hagner. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Frank A. Bussmann officiating.
