Mildred Gertrude Wieberg

Mildred Gertrude Wieberg, 86, of Westphalia, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. She was surrounded by her family and held the hand of her loving husband of 67 years, departing this life on the day of their wedding anniversary. She was born April 8, 1930, in Westphalia, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen (Scheulen) Temmen. Mildred was united in marriage on April 23, 1949, in Westphalia to Alfred Wieberg who survives at the home. In her earlier years, Mildred was a homemaker until the children were grown. She later worked from 1974-1994 as a housekeeper for the Rodeway Inn Hotel, Jefferson City. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia, St. Ann's Sewing Circle, and the Senior Citizen's Club, Westphalia. Mildred loved to cook and bake. She was well-known in the community for her iced sugar cookies. In years past people would make an early visit to the St. Joseph Parish functions to purchase a plate of her cookies. She also enjoyed quilting and sewing. She made hundreds of pillows for her family and also donated them to St. Joseph Parish functions and to the Senior Citizens Group. All of her pillows were adorned with her signature handmade ruffle. She also made countless aprons for school teachers and of course for her family. She truly loved using her talents to serve others. For her years of dedication and contribution to the community of Westphalia she was awarded the Anton Johannesmeyer Annual Award in 1996 and was also honored as a distinguished graduate of St. Joseph School, Westphalia. Survivors include her six children, Thomas (Clara) Wieberg, Taos; Daniel (Juliana)Wieberg, Jefferson City; Randy Wieberg; Arlene (Samuel) Samson; Darlene (James) Massman; and Susan (Leon) Lauberth; daughter-in-law, Susan Wieberg, all of Westphalia; twenty grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren with 3 more expected soon. She is also survived by two siblings, Alice (William) Markway, Westphalia; William Temmen, Westphalia; and two sisters-in-law, Margie Temmen, Folk; and Theresa Temmen, Folk. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Marty Wieberg; an infant grandson, one sister, Gladys Wieberg; and three brothers, Lawrence, Bernard, and Walter Temmen. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Westphalia with a rosary recited at 3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia with the Rev. Mark. S. Smith officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph Catholic School, P.O. Box 205, Westphalia, MO 65085.
