Martha Ann Fennewald

Martha Ann Fennewald, 103, of Westphalia, died Monday, October 07, 2013, at Westphalia Hills. She was born on August 24, 1910, in St. Thomas, the daughter of the late Paul and Clara M. (Evers) Groner. She was united in marriage on May 7, 1935, in St. Elizabeth, to Christopher Henry Fennewald who preceded her in death on October 9, 2000. Mrs. Fennewald was an elementary teacher at Castle Rock School, Verhoff School, Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Jefferson City, and St. Joseph Catholic School in Westphalia for 26 years and was an insurance agent for Western Catholic Union for 28 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia, St. Joseph Church Ladies Auxiliary, St. Ann Sewing Circle, and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club. Mrs. Fennewald was a past Deputy Vice-President and Board Member of the Western Catholic Union. Survivors include: four children, Jim (Dorothy) Fennewald, Westphalia; Sr. Janice Fennewald, SSND, Belleville, IL; Sr. Jeanette Fennewald, SSND, Troy; Joyce (Robert) Springer, McKinney, TX; a son-in-law, Gene Forsyth, Columbia; 10 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Groner, Berger; and Clarence and Helen Reinsch, Jefferson City. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Forsyth; two grandchildren, Fred and Beth Forsyth; five sisters, Teresa Speckhals, Dorothy Wilding, Ida Fennewald, Caroline Biggerstaff, Clare Everdon; and three brothers, Henry, Hubert, and George Groner. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia with the Rev. Mark S. Smith officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Westphalia with a rosary recited at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to School Sisters of Notre Dame, 320 East Ripa Ave., St. Louis, Mo 63125; and St. Joseph Catholic Church, P.O.
