Marie Hart Castrop, 97, of Jefferson City, died Monday, April 14, 2014, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born March 14, 1917, in Etterville, Missouri, the daughter of the late John Henry and Sophia Christine (Hunepohl) Evers. Marie was a 1935 graduate of Eugene High School and graduated from Lincoln University with a Bachelors degree in Education in 1965. She was united in marriage on November 21, 1940, in Jefferson City, to Elmer Toliver "Jim" Hart who preceded her in death on June 15, 1962. She later was married on December 20, 1968, in Jefferson City to Martin George Castrop who preceded her in death on January 7, 1982. Marie was a teacher for rural Miller county schools for seven years. She then worked for Milo Walz Hardware Store for seven years. She later began teaching at St. Peter Catholic School in Jefferson City for 23 years. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter Church Ladies Sodality, and was a life member of the VFW Post No. 1003 Auxiliary. Marie was a volunteer with the VA Hospital in Columbia. Marie's hobbies included crocheting and reading. Survivors include: one daughter, Evonda Limbach, Boonville; three grandchildren, Jocelyn (Leif) Strand, Jefferson City; Julie (Michael) Lauer, Boonville; Thomas (Tammy) Limbach, Jr., New Franklin; 4 great-grandchildren, Brennan Strand, Jacob Lauer, Kirsten Limbach, Caleb Lauer; one brother, Norbert Evers, Columbia; and several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Robert Whitley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; two sisters, Martha Evers and Beatrice Whitley; two brothers, Frank and John Evers; and her son-in-law, Thomas Limbach, Sr. A Liturgy of the Word Service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Hillary Andebo officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Vogelweid Learning Center, 314 West High Street, Jefferson City, Mo 65101. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
