MILDRED FRANCES BRUEMMER

July 2, 1927 — November 3, 2008

Mildred Frances Bruemmer, 81, of Taos, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at her residence. She was born on July 2, 1927, in Osage Bend, Mo., the daughter of Joseph A. and Katherine Toebben Schmidt. She was united in marriage on May 10, 1949, in Jefferson City, to Leonard Herman Bruemmer who survives at the home. Mrs. Bruemmer was employed in earlier years as a cook with Hatfields Caf and Manhatten Caf, Jefferson City. She also worked for Chesebrough Ponds for eighteen years until her retirement. Well-known as a cake designer, she co-owned with her husband Home-Sweet-Home Flowerette wedding rental She was a long time member and church decorator of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Mildred enjoyed dancing and playing cards, but especially having her family together on Sundays and Christmas. Other survivors include: five daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jim Kempker, Centralia, Mo.; Darlene and Harold Wolken, Osage Bend, Mo.; Evelyn and Steve Borgmeyer, Taos; Shirley and Danny Talken, Taos; and Mary Ann and David Craigg, Taos; three sons and four daughters-in-law, Milferd Mel and Becky Bruemmer, Jefferson City; Dennis and Jonie Bruemmer, Rich Fountain. Mo.; Dale and Karen Bruemmer, Taos; and Cathy Bruemmer, Taos; thirty-five grandchildren; and twenty-nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Leon Bruemmer; infant grandson, Christopher Borgmeyer; two sisters, Irene Bax and Evelyn Kempker; and two brothers, Alfred Schmidt and Oliver Schmidt. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, with the Rev. J. David Maher officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6th, at the church with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 7314 Route M, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
