MIKE JENSEN

January 13, 1930 — November 24, 2008

Mike (Milton Richard) Jensen, 78, of Hartsburg, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at University Hospital and Clinics due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on Jan. 13, 1930, in Viborg, South Dakota, the son of Bennie and Emma Jensen. He was united in marriage on March 2, 1974, in Chicago Ridge, Il., to Mary Rita Good who survives at the home. Mike was a United States Army veteran serving in Germany during the Korean Conflict and obtaining the rank of Corporal. Mike worked for the State of Missouri in various areas, Prudential Life Insurance Co., Farm Bureau Life Insurance Co., and Scholastic Inc. He was a life member of Wyman S. Basinger VFW Post 35 St. Martins where he volunteered for bingo, American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5 Jefferson City, and past commander of VFW Post 1003 Jefferson City. Mike was famous for his pickles. Everyone knew him as the Pickle Man. He also enjoyed baking and giving away his baked goods. He never met a stranger. He was a gracious and diligent volunteer with the Hospice of Jefferson City & Mid Missouri and the Friendship House. He was a loyal supporter of the Jefferson City Firefighters. Other survivors include: one son, Chris Jensen, Hartsburg; and one brother, Shomer Jensen, Yankton, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Lyle Jensen and Verlyn Jensen. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. Kent W. Trimble officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 Noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
