MEINRAD HEINRICH FISCHBACHER

Meinrad Heinrich Fischbacher, 75, of Jefferson City, departed this life on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at St. Joseph Home for the Aged in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was born June 1, 1933, in Mosnang, St. Gallen, Switzerland. Meinrad immigrated to the United States in 1951 and became a naturalized citizen in 1954. He served our Armed Forces for 29 years with 9 years in the Army and 20 years in the National Guard. After retirement he obtained his real estate license. He enjoyed the contact with people in all aspects of life. Remodeling houses, playing cards, grilling, and generally spending time with his friends and family were pleasures to him. Meinrad loved to travel and enjoyed visiting the many remaining relatives and childhood friends in his native country Switzerland. Meinrad was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church Parish for 34 years. Friends, family and especially children could always look forward to his friendly smile. He is survived by his wife Dollie of the home. They were married for 45 years. Children are Brigitte Ward and husband Richard of Duluth, Minnesota; Michael Fischbacher and wife Gabriele of Killeen, Texas; Bernadette Eberle and husband Christoph of Waldkirch, Switzerland; Anna Bell and husband Jim of Jefferson City; Daniel Fischbacher and wife Angela of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Grandchildren are David, Sarah and Brittany Fischbacher of Killeen Texas; Adrian Fischbacher, Evelyn and Vivienne Eberle of Waldkirch, Switzerland; Keya Allred of Kansas City, Missouri, Jen, Mason and Emma Bell of Jefferson City; and Reed and Riley Fischbacher of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Surviving family members include his brothers George Fischbacher, Henry and Klara Fischbacher, Anton and wife Ida. Sisters include Lydia and husband Hans Baumgartner, Trudy and husband Beat Keller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Fischbacher Bischoff and Josef Heinrich Fischbacher. Also by his brother Josef Fischbacher and sisters Emma Buehler and Maria Bolt. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Home For The Aged, 1306 W.
