Mary Ann Veit, age 90 of Jefferson City, died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born on July 9, 1920 in St. Martins, the daughter of the late Peter William and Hilda Mary Ihler Steck. She was united in marriage on June 20, 1942, in Los Angeles, CA, to Herman Adolph Veit of Jefferson City who preceded her in death on April 29, 2002. Mary retired after 30 years from Lockheed Aircraft Corp. in Burbank, Ca. where she was a materials analyst. She was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Jerrilyn (Larry) Hanlon, Bend Ore.; one brother, Leo Steck, Jefferson City; one granddaughter, Lea Marie Viramontes, Mohave Valley, Az; and three sisters-in-law, Betty Steck, St. Martins; Mary Schwarzer, Jefferson City; and Lillian Veit, St. Martins. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Vincent Steck and Albert Steck; and four sisters, Agnes Streebing, Dorothy Wiebe, Mildred Glover, and Margaret Martin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Martin Catholic Church, 7148 St. Martins Ave., Jefferson City, Mo 65109; or to St. Martins Catholic School, 7206 St. Martins Ave., Jefferson City, Mo 65109.
