MARJORIE RUSSELL TRIPPENSEE

August 30, 1922 — September 5, 2008

Marjorie Russell Trippensee of Jefferson City died Sept. 5, 2008, at the age of 86. She was born in Morrill, Kansas, on August 30, 1922, the daughter of Arra Clay and Zola Lemon Russell who both preceded her in death. Marjorie was married on May 22, 1948, to Arthur Ray Trippensee, who preceded her in death on August 15, 2000. She grew up in Jefferson City and graduated from Jefferson City High School. She received an Associate of Arts degree from the former Christian College in Columbia, Mo., and the Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Kansas State University. She undertook graduate work at the University of Missouri. Marjorie served many students as a Home Economics teacher in the Jefferson City Public Schools at both the Junior High and Senior High schools during her 38 year career. Professional memberships maintained included the Missouri State Teachers Association, Retired Teachers Association, and the Cole County Retired Teachers Association. Marjorie also was active in P.E.O. as a charter member of chapters HM and JB; Pi Beta Phi alumnae; Jane Randolph chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Cole County Historical Society; Memorial Hospital volunteer; Capital Region Medical Center Auxiliary; St. Marys Hospital Auxiliary; and a Heisinger Home Gift Shop volunteer. Marjorie was raised in the Baptist tradition and spent most of her adult life at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City. Marjorie completed her faith journey by coming into full communion with the Catholic Church, or as she said, I am home, shortly before her death. Marjorie is survived by her son, Russell W. Trippensee and his wife, Jackie, of Jefferson City; and two grandchildren, Lesley Trippensee of Jefferson City and Ryan Trippensee, Shelby Township, Michigan. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Capital Improvement Fund, 216 Broadway, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
