MABEL LORRAINE SMITH

Mabel Lorraine Smith, 85, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, September 3, 2009, at Oak Tree Villas. She was born on February 13, 1924, in Eldon, Mo, the daughter of James Aubrey and Sue M. Gunter Robinson. She was a graduated of Eldon High School in 1942. She was united in marriage on August 27, 1955, in Lake Ozark, Mo, to Delbert Frank Smith who preceded her in death on October 4, 2001. Mabel retired from Sprint and spent most of her retirement years with her husband in Alamo, Texas. She was involved with community volunteer work for much of her life, including tutoring at south Texas schools after retirement. Along with her husband, she took great pleasuring in giving Christmas presents yearly to children in need. Survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Joe and Terri Smith, Roger Smith, all of Jefferson City; and two granddaughters, Amanda Smith, Denver, Co; and Kayla Smith, Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Private family services will be held at a later date in Texas. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
