MABEL HELEN GOIN

December 1, 1914 — March 23, 2008

Mabel Helen Goin, 93, of Jefferson City, formerly of Okmulgee, OK, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Jefferson City Manor Care. She was born on December 1, 1914, in Haskell, OK, the daughter of Richard Joseph and Lee Hatchell McStravick. She was a 1933 graduate of St. Anthony High School, 1936 graduate of St. Johns Nursing Training, and further studies with Langston University and University of Oklahoma. She was united in marriage on December 21, 1937, in Okmulgee, OK to Claude Goin. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1981. Mrs. Goin was employed with the State of Oklahoma as a nurse for over twenty years. In her earlier years, she worked for St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa, OK, private duty nurse in Okmulgee, OK, and for the Public Health and Oklahoma MTMC Program. She was a co-founder of the MTMC Program which initiated the home health care industry. She was a member of the Roman Catholic faith, National Nurses Association, and the Rosarian Association. Survivors include: two daughters, Joan Goin Bartholomew; Karol Goin Chernich, both of Jefferson City; one niece, Patricia Bates, Muskogee, OK; one nephew, Jim ONeil, Ruston, LA; and three friends, Mrs. Floreine Pollock, Tulsa, OK; Mrs. Celetha Lenley; and Judy Hankins, both of Okmulgee, OK; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one sister, Mary Lee ONeil. Private family services will be held at a later date. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Masses will be said for the repose of her soul at her home church of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Okmulgee, OK.
