Lucille Helen Smith

Lucille Helen Smith, 95, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, August 18, 2013, at Oak Tree Villas. She was born on March 4, 1918, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Joseph Gerhard and Mary Bernice Frank Abel. She was married on June 14, 1938, in Jefferson City to Victor Victor Smith who preceded her in death on September 29, 2006. Mrs. Smith retired in 1973 from the Purchasing Department of the Missouri Division of Welfare where she had been employed for thirty years. She was a member of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, Ladies Sodality, and Association of Retired State Employees. She greatly enjoyed gardening, crafts, Bridge, and Canasta. Survivors include one son, Dr. Mickey C. (Mary) Smith, Oxford, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Dr. Phillip Smith, Germantown, Tennessee; and Rebecca Smith, Columbus, Mississippi; three great-grandchildren, Jason Smith, Mallory Smith, and Daniel Smith, all of Germantown, Tennessee; one sister, Betty Pratt, Jefferson City; and one brother, Fred Abel, Wichita, Kansas. She was preceded in death by one brother, William Abel; two sisters, Rosemary Henderson and Marjorie Eggen; and two sisters-in-law, Georgia Abel and Ruby Abel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21st, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Helias Foundation, POB 694, Jefferson City, MO 65102; or the Samaritan Center, 1310 E.
