Lucille Ann Schmitz, 81, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Friday, November 18, 2016. She was born July 26, 1935, in Babbtown, Missouri, the daughter of the late Louis and Gertrude (Voss) Bax. She was united in marriage on June 13, 1959, in Meta, Missouri to Frank William Schmitz who preceded her in death on February 18, 2015. Focusing her life on her family, Lucille was a homemaker the majority of her life, raising her three children and helping out with the family business. She was also a caregiver for her parents and others who needed her help along the way. Being an empty nester, and never one to be idle, she went to work for Scholastic, Inc. as an accounting clerk for nearly fifteen years. She was a devout Catholic and member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Immaculata Club, Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapter. Lucille was a great bargain hunter and enjoyed outdoor activities including being on the Osage River with Frank and her family. She found great joy spending time with her grandchildren. Lucille always made a point of putting others before herself. Survivors include two children, Connie (Bill) Eads, Lee's Summit; and Dan (Lynn) Schmitz, Jefferson City; seven grandchildren, Sara (Tim) Hill, Stacy (Eric) Anthony, Trevor Eads, Austin Eads, Molly Schmitz, Ethan Schmitz, Elisabeth Schmitz; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Anthony; and three sisters, Laverne (Jim) Rhodes, Jefferson City; Lorraine (Alfred) Hoecker, St. Elizabeth; and Bernice Redel, Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Doug Schmitz, who passed away, July 7, 1992; two sisters, Linda Kemna and Mary Kleffner; and a brother, Delbert Bax. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Donald Antweiler officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Stroke Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601.
