LORRAINE MARY GRAWE

February 10, 1940 — January 28, 2009

Lorraine Mary Grawe, 68, of Taos, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis. She was born on Feb. 10, 1940, in New Haven, Mo., the daughter of Albert Martin and Viola Katherine Krueger Meyer. She was united in marriage on Aug. 6, 1960, in New Haven, to Maj. (Ret.) Arthur Bernard Grawe who survives at the home. Lorraine spent her young married life traveling with her husband in the military. She lived in Germany and much of the U.S., moving back to Missouri twice while her husband served in Vietnam. She was a Brownie, Girl Scout, and Cub Scout leader. Her husband retired in 1976 in Oklahoma. In 1978, the family moved to Taos. She sold Avon for many years, sewed numerous dresses for weddings, and enjoyed meeting and becoming part of the Taos community. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and volunteered at St. Francis Xavier School and the parish picnic and fall supper committees. Lorraine also participated in various bowling leagues. Lorraine loved and cared for her children, grandchildren, and her pet horses, cats, and dogs. Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jerry Stegeman, Loose Creek; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Gary Grawe, Holts Summit; Keith and Julene Grawe, Raton, NM; Kevin Grawe and Cathy, Jefferson City; eight grandchildren, Brian Stegemam; J.T. Stegeman; Greg Stegeman; Kimberly Stegeman; Chad Stegeman; Dylan Grawe; Tristan Grawe; Isabel Grawe; one sister, Evelyn Bauer, New Haven; an aunt, Laverne Laune, New Haven; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday Feb. 2, 2009, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, with the Rev. J. David Maher officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, New Haven. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, 915 County Ridge Dr., Jefferson City, Mo 65109.
