LORETTA EMILY BIELSKI

December 14, 1925 — April 3, 2009

Loretta Emily (Stachelski) Bielski, 83, of Jefferson City, Mo., long time resident of Calumet City, Il., passed away Friday, April 3, 2009, at St. Marys Health Center. She was born on Dec. 14, 1925, in Calumet City, Il., the daughter of John and Emilja (Wojcikowski) Stachelski. She was raised in Calumet City, Il., and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in 1945. She was united in marriage on June 11, 1949, in Crown Point, Indiana, to Ben Walter Bielski, Sr. who survives at the home. Loretta worked at Republic Steel until she devoted her energies full time to raising her three children, Ben Jr., Nancy, and Bob. She was a devoted member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Calumet City, Il. She was also a member of the Polish Falcons and Sunshine Club of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Ben, Sr.; one daughter, Nancy Bielski, Auburn, Ca; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Mozelle Bielski, Jr., Jefferson City; Dr. Robert and Sharon Bielski, Western Springs, Il. She is also survived by the lights of her life, her six grandchildren, Ben W. J. Bielski; Leslie Roter; Jacob Bielski; David Bielski; Rachel Bielski; Emily Bielski. She is also survived by one sister, Ann Prestash, Oconomowoc, Wis.; many nieces and nephews; and her long-time caregiver Wanda Altawil. Her family and loved ones will greatly miss her cooking, laughter, love of polka dancing, and above all, her devotion to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Julia and Gertrude; and four brothers, Chester, Henry, Anthony, and John. A private memorial Requiem Mass will be held at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Jefferson City, Mo. with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, Il. Memorials are suggested to the Discalced Carmelite Monastery, 2201 West Main Street, Jefferson City, Mo 65109.
