LORETTA ELIZABETH BREGENZER

Loretta Elizabeth Bregenzer, 79, of Jefferson City, died Friday, May 23, 2008, surrounded by her children. She was born on December 28, 1928, in Dow, IL, the daughter of Henry Bernard and Anna Marie Wendle Bechtold. Loretta attended public schools in Jersey County and Alton IL. She graduated from the business college at Ursuline Convent in Alton. She was united in marriage on September 20, 1952, in Beltrees, IL, to Robert Louis Bregenzer who preceded her in death on April 3, 1989. Prior to her marriage Mrs. Bregenzer was employed as supervisor of the payroll department at St. Josephs Hospital in Alton, IL. Later, she worked for Schultes IGA in Jefferson City, MO. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Meadow Lake Acres Country Club where she volunteered with junior and ladies golf programs, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion, and Daughters of Isabella. She volunteered at Memorial Hospital, with the Boy and Girl Scouts, and enjoyed golfing, dancing, playing the piano, card playing and bingo. Her greatest passion was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Pam Bregenzer, Rochester, NY; two daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Jim Swallow, Stilwell, KS; Kathy and Keith Porting, Ashland, MO; five grandchildren, Michael and his wife Kelly Bregenzer; Meghan Swallow; Bryan Swallow; Ashley Porting; Nicholas Porting; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bregenzer; Kendall Bregenzer; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Eugene Bechtold, Dow, IL; Robert and Sharon Bechtold, Godfrey, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Raymond Bechtold. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Additional visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Staten Funeral Home in Alton, IL. Funeral services will 10 a.m. Thursday at Staten Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.
