LLOYD BERYL SCHABEN

May 24, 1917 — March 4, 2006

Lloyd Beryl Schaben, 88, of Folk, MO, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on May 24, 1917 in Brownell, KS, the son of William Gerhart and Ollie Belle Carroll Schaben. He was married on Nov. 26, 1940 in Ness City, KS to Florence Catherine Maguire who died on June 23, 1992. A 1936 graduate of Bazine High School, Mr. Schaben was a lifelong farmer in Kansas, Nebraska, and in the Folk, MO area. He operated the Folk Recreation Store in Folk for many years. During World War II he was employed for two years in the shipyards in California. He was a member of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Folk; Knights of Columbus; and was an Honorary Mayor of Folk, Missouri. Survivors include eleven sons and their wives, Gerry and Lee Ann Schaben, Seward, NE; Marlin Schaben, Cambridge, NE; John and Margaret Schaben, Holts Summit; Denis and Linda Schaben, Holbrook, NE; Kenneth and Irene Schaben, Meta, MO; Henry and Pam Schaben, Portland, OR; Mike and Leanne Schaben, Koeltztown, MO; Fulton and Jane Schaben, Westphalia, MO; Francis and Cindie Schaben, Fenton, MO; Rodney and Jane Schaben, Linn, MO; and Jack and Angela Schaben, Meta, MO; four daughters and their husbands, Judy and Virgil Wieberg, Marys Home, MO; Kathy and James Ewers, Willow Springs, MO; Mary and Paul Miller, Brazito, MO; and Jackie and Bryan Hoecker, Meta, MO; eighty-four grandchildren; one hundred ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Gabel, Red Bluff, CA. He was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony Schaben and Patrick Schaben; one daughter, Betty Schaben; three grandsons, Phillip Schaben, Chuck Schaben, and Kent Schaben; and two sisters, Betty Cranston and Helen Swenson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006, at Saint. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Folk, with the Rev. Philip M. Kane officiating. Burial will be in Saint Anthony of Padua Cemetery, Folk. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 8th, at Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Folk with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Carmelite Monastery, 2201 W. Main Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109; or Cardinal Glennon Childrens Hospital, 1465 South Grand Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63104-1095.
