LINUS HENRY PATTEN

July 9, 1933 — September 14, 2012

Linus Henry Patten, 79, of St. Martins, died Friday, September 14, 2012, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born on July 9, 1933, in Freeburg, the son of the late Edward P. and Catherine S. (Singer) Patten.
Linus was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He was united in marriage on February 20, 1960, in St. Elizabeth to Alice Marie Kirkweg who preceded him in death on February 25, 2000.
Linus worked at the Missouri State Penitentiary for 20 years. He also owned and operated several local businesses.
He was a member of St. Marin Catholic Church.
Linus enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include: four children, Ricky Patten, St. Martins; Joyce (Kenneth) Weider, Centertown; Terry (Jane) Patten, Taos; Janet (James) Moore, Russellville; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Christy Patten; eight grandchildren, Richelle Gangloff, Kelly Tucker, Julie Abbett, Kayla Weider, Jessica Patten, Lauren Patten, Jacob Moore, Justin Patten; 4 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roman (JoAnna) Patten, Jefferson City; James (Mary) Patten, Wardsville; and seven in-laws, Clarence (Mary Ellen) Kirkweg, Jefferson City; Eleanor Edwards, Jefferson City; Rosalie Hentges, California; Alfred (Mary) Kirkweg, Centertown; Delores (David) Bax, St. Martins; Delphine (Louis) Toebben, Taos; and Joseph Brauner; Jefferson City.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Allen Patten; and a grandson, Joshua Moore.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 Noon Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
