LEROY LOUIS WILBERS

Leroy Louis Wilbers, 77, of Wardsville, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Columbia. He was born on May 14, 1927 in Cole County, the son of Joseph Bernard and Mary Catherine Mehmert Wilbers. He was married on May 1, 1954 in Jefferson City to Jewell Dean Fisher who survives at the home. Other survivors include four sons and their wives, Lee, Jr. and Rebecca Korsmeyer Wilbers, Jefferson City; Tom and Sharon Kolb Wilbers, Wardsville; Tim and Barb Verslues Wilbers, Wardsville; and Gary and Dana Luebbering Wilbers, Wardsville; two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Daryl Heet, Taos; and Letha & Jim Moeckli, Jefferson City; thirteen grandchildren, Joey Heet; Jeff Heet; Ryan Wilbers; Nikki Wilbers; Cody Wilbers; Chelsey Wilbers; Daniel Wilbers; Austin Wilbers; Beth Moeckli; James Moeckli; Christopher Wilbers; Adam Wilbers; and Elle Wilbers; and one brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Ann Wilbers, Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Walter and Herbert Wilbers. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville, with the Rev. Gregory C. Meystrik officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the church following the Mass. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. A United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, Mr. Wilbers was a truck driver for Uregas and Haslag Energy for thirty-five years until retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville; Wardsville-Osage Bend Knights of Columbus Council; Wardsville Lions Club; American Legion Post 5; and Roy Sone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1003. An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, he enjoyed horseshoes, gardening, attending grandchildrens sporting events and activities, and visiting with people.
