LEO LEWIS BRUEGENHEMKE

June 26, 1927 — January 26, 2007

Leo Lewis Bruegenhemke, 79, of Jefferson City, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born June 26, 1927, in Quincy IL., the son of John William and Gladys Kanitz Bruegenhemke. He spent most of his adult life working in Missouri with livestock and poultry feed industries for nearly 52 years. Over the years he enjoyed spending time with friends over a cup a coffee. A Navy Veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, an honorary member of Knights of Columbus in Carrollton, MO, a member of the American Legion Post 5, and honorary member of the Cole County Sheriffs Association. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Joni Beth and Bruce Harbert, Streator, IL, and Jessica Harris, Cole Camp; five grandchildren, Chad Cowick, Adam Harris, Amanda Harris, Sarah Peck, and Stephanie Harbert; five great-grandchildren, Chad Cowick, Jr., Corbin Cowick, Haley Cowick, Jonathan Cowick, and Victoria Harris; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Christine Buckman, Monroe City, and Bernadine and Clarn Smith, Kansas City; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Betty Bruegenhemke, OFallon; and a friend and companion Joyce Emmerich. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Leo Bruegenhemke, and a brother, Frank Bruegenhemke. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 Noon Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007 at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiating. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Vogelweid Learning Center, 314 W.
