LEO HERMAN REDEL

December 19, 1932 — March 13, 2012

Leo Herman Redel, 79, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Landmark Hospital in Columbia.
He was born on December 19, 1932, in Maries County, Mo., the son of the late Timothy Bernard and Helen Barbara Dahlhoff Redel.
Leo served with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He was united in marriage on April 9, 1953, in Meta, to Bernice Theresa Bax who resides at the home.
Leo owned and operated Leos Service Station on the east end of Jefferson City for 20 years. Then he worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections until his retirement. After retiring, Leo worked part time for Carroll-Rehma Motors for several years.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2693, VFW, United Sportsmens Club. Leo was also a member of Immaculate Conceptions Dream Team. Leo was well known as the Mole Man for his expertise in trapping moles.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing baseball and softball.
Other survivors include: four children, Thomas Redel, St. Joseph; Tamara Neuner, Jefferson City; Myra Redel (John Ball), Rich Fountain; Jeffery (Candice) Redel, Hannibal; a son-in-law, Joe Laux, Jefferson City; six grandchildren, Maranda Mihalevich, Laura Rudolph, Jennifer Laux, Mariah Ball, Seth Redel, Saylor Redel; one great-grandson, Rordan Mihalevich; and one sister, Rita Holtschneider, Rich Fountain.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Laux; two brothers; and six sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.
